Jan Lisiecki, a Canadian prodigy

You don’t need to be a classical music lover or expert to understand and appreciate the exceptional talent of Jan Lisiecki!

At only 20 years old, Jan has already proven his fantastic abilities to play the most challenging partitions (from Chopin and Mozart, among others) and work with the greatest musicians of today’s classical music scene. We were fortunate enough to attend one of his first public concerts in Edmonton in 2007. At that time, everyone in the audience knew that this cute blond kid would go a long way in his music career.

Jan Lisiecki

Born in Calgary, AB, Jan Lisiecki has become one of the most respected piano artists of his generation and those that preceded him. He has received many awards for his work, like the “Révélations Radio-Canada Musique” in 2010 or the Leonard Bernstein Award of the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in 2013. Jan now plays around the world, travelling constantly between Europe, Asia and North America, and bringing his talents to prestigious places such as the New York Philharmonic, the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo or the Orchestre de Paris.

Jan recently returned to his hometown for a sold-out concert at the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. His music is more mature and poetic than ever before, but if you can make your way through the crowd of his fans, Jan is still the same approachable, friendly person he was when we first met him.

If you ever have the chance to attend one of his concerts, you will not be disappointed!
